In her artistic practice, Lies Caeyers explores how identity can be constructed and shifted through images, objects, experiences and techniques.
Her practice is structured around five methods: Origin, Kabinet, Studio, Lab and Factory.
In Origin, it becomes visible how a person is captured and can function as image, code, or model.
In Kabinet, souvenirs, fascinations and imagination are assembled into an own universe.
In Studio, experiences and techniques are employed as instruments to relate to origin, métier and tradition.
In Lab, the individual is subjected to systems beyond the self, and seeks a position within them.
In Factory, identity and authorship are put into circulation as brand, product and commodity.
